Russian Choice Leads All the Way to Geelong Cup Day Victory

Russian Choice delivered an impressive front-running performance at Geelong on Geelong Cup Day, taking out the 1400m Benchmark 66 Geelong Caravanning Leisurefest Handicap in commanding fashion.

Partnered by regular Noblet Racing jockey Harry Coffey, the four-year-old daughter of Russian Camelot jumped cleanly from barrier seven and quickly took up the running, establishing an uninterrupted lead.

The mare travelled comfortably in front, opening up a four-length advantage on her rivals at the 600m mark before maintaining the pressure into the straight. Showing plenty of determination, Russian Choice continued strongly to the line, crossing the finish three lengths clear in a time of 1:24.26.

It was a decisive performance from the mare, who proved simply too good for her rivals on the day.

Now at her third run this preparation, Russian Choice stepped out to 1400m for the first time this campaign, and took to the task, relishing the additional distance. The victory marks the second win of her career and provides an encouraging reward for her connections.
