Fierce Fiasco Breaks His Maiden at Seymour

Fierce Fiasco finally got his reward for a consistent run of form, grinding out a hard-fought maiden victory over 2021 metres at Seymour.

Having his fifth start since joining the stable, the four-year-old son of Fierce Impact relished the step up in distance despite a four-week break between runs. Fit and seasoned with two runs since a let-up, the gelding dug deep when it mattered to secure a well-deserved first career victory.

Partnered by regular stable rider Harry Coffey, Fierce Fiasco jumped cleanly from barrier five before settling towards the rear of the field. Coffey bided his time, allowing the gelding to find his rhythm before beginning to improve approaching the final turn.

The pair began to make their move from the 600-metre mark, gradually working their way into contention before drawing level with the leaders. Fierce Fiasco found a narrow lead turning for home and, despite being challenged in the closing stages, continued to find plenty under Coffey's urgings.

He refused to surrender, holding off his rivals to score by a narrow 0.3 lengths and finally register the breakthrough victory his recent form had suggested was within reach.

The win was particularly pleasing given the gelding's consistency throughout his four previous starts for the stable, where he had been regularly around the mark without quite managing to get his head in front.

With the step up to 2021 metres proving no issue, Fierce Fiasco has now opened his account and will take confidence from a hard-earned victory that could prove a springboard for further success.
