ZESHADOW FLIES HOME AT BALLARAT

Recent addition to the Noblet Racing stable, five-year-old mare Zeshadow produced a gutsy performance to claim the Benchmark 62 Manhari Handicap over 1600 metres at Ballarat.

Second-up from a solid first-up run over 1400 metres, the daughter of Zed relished the step up to a mile. Given a textbook ride by jockey Johnny Allen, the pair clinched victory right on the line.

Jumping from barrier seven, Zeshadow was only fairly away before settling in a midfield position. She travelled strongly throughout and was full of running when clear upon straightening. Setting out in pursuit of the breakaway leader, the mare produced a powerful finishing burst, digging deep in the final strides to reel in her rival and secure the win.

A slow-maturing type, it was pleasing to see the mare break through at just her second start for the stable — hopefully the beginning of a fruitful campaign. A terrific result for a wonderful group of connections.
